Campus Life
We provide shared student accommodations—with separate male and female student buildings. Our residences give students the opportunity to immerse themselves in a vibrant residential community where they can build social confidence and lasting friendships. On-campus housing is offered to graduate students during their first year of study and to undergraduate students throughout their course. The monthly cost for campus accommodation is AED 3,750 per month per bedspace (shared, two students per room).

While Masdar City is all highly walkable, students also have access to low-carbon public transportation options like electric buses and golf carts.
All of our students enjoy access to a well-equipped fitness center and multi-purpose areas for sports activities—as well as restaurants, coffee shops, and a canteen that’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Visit our campus facilities page for more information.

The MBZUAI campus in Masdar City is purpose-built to support both rigorous academic research and an enriching student experience. We offer research laboratories, a specialized AI library with 24/7 digital access to electronic collections, a knowledge center, an auditorium, and a visitors center that regularly hosts formal delegations.
For recreation, students have access to a multi-purpose sports hall with separate male and female MBZUAI gyms, a swimming pool, basketball, and badminton courts, as well as table tennis, pool, and foosball tables. Our campus also includes a canteen, restaurants, coffee shops, a convenience store, male and female prayer rooms, student lounges, and majlis (or ‘common gathering’) areas.
We also provide an on-campus first aid clinic that’s staffed 24/7 by dedicated medical professionals—and available to all students. The university provides health insurance coverage for both staff and students.
We are in Masdar City, a thriving, well-situated community that is now home to over 450 global and local companies - including G42, Core42, Siemens, and the UAE Space Agency headquarters. We also offer a growing selection of supermarkets, shopping malls, restaurants, cafes, banking branches, medical services, and pharmacies.

We bring together students from 59 nationalities—united by a shared focus on artificial intelligence and its potential to shape the future, for good. Our current student body is made up of 112 undergraduate students and 541 graduate students. This gives our students many opportunities to build more meaningful relationships with peers, faculty, and staff. With 28% female enrollment and students from both engineering and business backgrounds, our community offers a true diversity of interests, perspectives, and origins.
Through collaborative research, university sporting events, student events, cultural celebrations, and the daily rhythms of MBZUAI campus life in Masdar City, we foster a tight-knit environment where lasting bonds form quickly.
We provide a comprehensive range of services tailored to student needs. These include assigned academic advisors, personalized learning support, confidential counseling and wellbeing services, IT support, and on-campus health services available 24/7. Our Student Life team also helps with practical steps on arrival including accommodation setup, Emirates ID processing, and health insurance—provided to every student, throughout their academic journey.

Pets are allowed in our long-term and short-term faculty accommodations, but not in our student or visitor housing.
Yes, MBZUAI offers leadership opportunities through its active Undergraduate Student Government (UGSG), where students can develop leadership skills, contribute to campus life, and enhance the overall student experience.
Accommodation is available during the winter and spring breaks. However, students must vacate their rooms during the summer break (normally mid-May to mid-August). Exact dates will be confirmed closer to the time.
No, MBZUAI does not provide housing for parents. However, the Student Life team can recommend nearby hotels or Airbnb's for visiting parents.
No. MBZUAI has transitioned away from external and government platforms. Supplier registration and onboarding are now managed directly through MBZUAI’s Supplier Registration Platform.
Yes, students receive regular academic feedback and can share their opinions with faculty and administrators. Feedback opportunities are available during department meetings and town halls.

All undergraduate students will be able to request housing on campus. Graduate students may request housing on campus pending availability; however, many opt for options including studios, one bedroom, and shared apartments near campus.
Yes, a shuttle service connects students to key locations, including shopping malls and other amenities. The schedule will be provided upon arrival.
Yes, MBZUAI offers personalized support to ensure that students with disabilities receive the necessary accommodations for academic success. Students are encouraged to inform the Student Life team as early as possible to arrange appropriate support.
Yes, the Student Life team will reach out to admitted students in June to assist with the arrangements for issuing student visas.

Our faculty housing includes a variety of property types, ranging in size from 90m² to 171m², and from two bedrooms to four bedrooms. Some properties also include a maid’s room.

Student housing includes a multi-occupancy room with shared bathroom facilities. Each apartment (2, 3, or 4 bedrooms) is equipped with laundry facilities, a fully stocked kitchen, a living area with a TV, and internet access. Campus-wide amenities include a gym, sports areas, restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, and a canteen offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Learn more about the facilities here.

Each shared apartment is a two-bed unit and includes two single beds, two study desks, wardrobe and storage space, side tables, soft furnishings, a kitchenette with a fridge, a private bathroom, and a balcony.

MBZUAI’s undergraduate program is fully in-person to ensure maximum engagement with faculty and peers. Online enrollment is not permitted. If your passport or visa is delayed, please apply for renewals as early as possible. The University will assist with visa arrangements starting in June.

Yes. MBZUAI offers a vibrant student community with clubs for sports, music, outdoor activities, chess, gaming, languages, consulting, photography, and more. MBZUAI procures AI research infrastructure, technology solutions, laboratory equipment, professional services, facilities support, marcoms services, and institutional support services.
Our housing options include student housing, faculty housing, and visitor housing.
Student housing is available on campus to both undergraduate and graduate MBZUAI students, as well as visiting students. Undergraduate students are eligible for housing during fall and spring for up to four years of their undergraduate program, and graduate students are eligible for housing during fall and spring of their first academic year.
Long-term faculty housing is available to full-time new MBZUAI faculty relocating to the UAE with an employment contract longer than one year. Leases run for 12 months, with the option to renew. Short-term faculty housing is available to new faculty joiners, affiliated, adjunct, and visiting faculty. Leases are between one to six months. Faculty housing is located at The Link Residences.
Visitor housing is available to visiting students, visiting researchers, postdocs, newly relocating staff, and other MBZUAI visitors. Students can stay for up to 21 days and must contact our Student Housing team on student.housing@mbzuai.ac.ae for longer visits. Priority will be given to postdocs and researchers relocating the region. Strictly based on availability.
